Straffulgrat
Royal tour in icy imperial weather
The small team eagerly prepared for the tour and were able to set off shortly after eight. The tour promised to be one of the most beautiful snowshoe tours on the Simplon with fascinating views of the Alpine chains. However, this proved to be only one side of the coin.
The tour was also very varied with constantly changing scenery. From steep slopes to a gorge ascent and a windy ridge, all under a perfect cloudless sky, everything was on a silver platter.
The exact route is not shown here. If you want to find out, you have to go with Dominic.
It was icy, windy and cold. Really wintry. This wintry feeling alone made up for the lack of snow on the south side. We all agreed that snowshoes are the ideal equipment for this mountain. Because of the alpine character, it required experience and skill.
We were able to toast our tour and warm up in the restaurant as early as 13:00.
In short, this royal tour kept all its promises!
