20-21.01.2024 / Becs de Bosson

First class panorama

Saturday

Today our mountain hike began under unexpected circumstances. Instead of being able to start from the mountain station, we had to tackle the steep ascent to the Col des Becs de Bosson on snowshoes from Bendolla. Instead of the planned 300 vertical meters, we had to fight our way up 1000 vertical meters along the ski slopes. This was necessary due to a nonsensical regulation that prohibits pedestrians from using the chairlift.

Despite these obstacles, the route to the pass was regularly used and checked in winter. It was an extremely challenging passage through the steep terrain. After finally reaching the Cabane Bec de Bosson, we moved into our accommodation there. The breathtaking atmosphere in the middle of the mountains and the unforgettable sunsets were all ours.

The Cabane is situated in an unforgettable location at an altitude of 3000 meters and offers a fantastic panorama in perfect weather. Despite the exhausting journey, we were all impressed by the beauty of nature and enjoyed this unforgettable moment. The impressive sunset was followed by a starry night sky, and we experienced a fantastic sunrise that warmed our hearts and provided us with new energy for the day.

Sunday

Freshly fortified, we set off at around 8:30 am. On our second day in the Lower Valais, we snowshoed through the snow-covered Vallon de Rèchy. We took our lunch break on the Col de Cou. However, as it was quite cold and we still had a few meters of altitude to descend, we didn’t stop for long.

We continued through a beautiful snow-covered forest to Nax. There we went to a pub in the village, as our bus to Sion didn’t leave for another hour. Finally, we took the train from Sion to Visp, where we parted ways.

Thanks to the tour leader Dominic and all participants for the company and getting to know a new area.
